Parwal Ki Mithai is an easy and delicious recipe prepared specially in Bihar during festival. It is a unique sweet which is made from vegetable unlike other sweets which are usually made from milk and milk products. It is cooked Pointed Gourds dipped into sugar syrup and stuffed with Khoya and chopped dry fruits.
- 250 grams Pointed Gourds (Parwal)
- 1 cup Dried Whole Milk (Khoya)
- 2 tbsp Milk Powder
- 1 1/2 cups Sugar
- 1/4 tsp Green Cardamom Powder
- A pinch of Soda Bicarbonate
- A few strands of Saffron (Kesar)
- 10 Almonds (chopped)
- 10 Pistachios (chopped)
1.Peel and slit the parwal in center and remove the seeds. Boil the water in pan and add pinch of baking soda. Add parwal and boil it for 5-7 minutes.
2.Heat half cup of sugar and 2 cup of water together in a pan to form a sugar syrup.
3.Add boiled parwal in sugar syrup for 5-10 minutes. Take out soaked parwal from sugar syrup and allow it to cool.
4.Heat the grated mawa in non-stick pan and add powdered sugar, cardamom and chopped nuts in mawa. Cook for two minutes only.
5.Remove the mixture into bowl and add milk powder. Mix well and keep aside to cool.
6.Stuff the parwal with mawa mixture and garnish with chopped pistachios and saffron. Keep in freeze and serve chill.
